Profile
Dr. Steven R. Cohen
is a licensed psychologist with expertise in forensic psychology and
psychotherapy with adults, children, adolescents, couples, and
families. He is also an expert in custody evaluations.
Dr. Cohen received
his Ph.D. from the Department of Education and Child Development of
Bryn Mawr College.
Dr. Cohen is in
private practice in Southampton, Pennsylvania. He has held positions
with Rosemont and Chestnut Hill Colleges, Friends Hospital, and the
drug prevention program of the Philadelphia Archdiocese.
He was formerly on
the faculty of the Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work and
of Hahnemann Medical School. Dr. Cohen also frequently serves as a
guest speaker for such groups as the Pennsylvania
Psychological Association, the Family Law Division of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and area
hospitals.
Dr. Cohen was elected
to serve as the President of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association
(PPA) for the 2009-2010 term. Previous to this, he was Chairman of the
PPA Ethics Committee. He is past president of the Philadelphia
Society of Clinical Psychologists (PSCP). He has also served as president
of the Delaware Valley Society of Adolescent Health, and currently
serves on the Custody Committee of the Pennsylvania Psychological
Association. He is also a charter member of the statewide Parenting
Coordination Task Force.
He has acted as
an expert witness for the Department of State of the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania, examining cases for the prosecuting attorney concerning
psychologists.
In 2012, Governor Corbett appointed Dr. Steven Cohen to serve the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a member of the State Board of Psychology, also known as the Licensing Board.
